Basic recipe for butter cookies to decorate

At Easter time I love to bake some cookies to give to the girls, decorate the cute ones for the godchildren and especially to hang from the palms and palms . They are so beautiful that we have been adding them for a couple of years also in the palms that we decorate on request at the Fiesta at Easter time.

If you dare to try it... I leave you the recipe for the base dough of the ideal butter cookie to decorate. This is the recipe that I like the most, the one that works best for me at least, the one that Larysa taught me. She was the one who introduced me and the girls to the world of cookies !

INGREDIENTS
300 gr. butter at room temperature
2 large eggs at room temperature
350 gr. pastry flour
250 gr. White sugar
a pinch of salt
A pinch of cinnamon powder (Optional)

PREPARATION

You can make the cookies in a bowl and beat the ingredients by hand with the beaters, but if you have automatic beaters, it's always better and faster.

Put the butter at room temperature in a bowl and begin to beat the butter together with the sugar, until it forms a creamy and homogeneous mass.

Add the eggs little by little, always beating with the rods until you get a homogeneous mass.

Sift the flour well and add it to the previous dough, always mixing with the whisk. Sprinkle the dough with a pinch of cinnamon and a pinch of salt.

Take the dough out of the bowl and even if it is a little sticky, knead it with your hands. If it sticks to your hands a lot, you can help by using a little flour .

Go kneading with desire, until there are two balls left and then wrap the balls of dough in plastic wrap and keep it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, turn on the oven at 180º up and down.

After 30 minutes, take the dough out of the fridge and roll it out with the help of a rolling pin until it is as thick as you want your cookies. Important! do not leave them too thick or too thin; about 5-7 millimeters, they are perfect . With some cookie cutters in the shape you choose, cut them and place them on the baking paper, on the oven tray.

Bake your cookies at 180º until they start to brown, generally about 15 minutes is enough, but it depends a lot on each oven.

Then let them cool before decorating.

These are some cookies that we have made in previous years for Easter in case they inspire you. They are decorated with royal icing and we add these to the palms that we decorate for Easter.

You can decorate them with Royal Icing, creative pastry pencils to decorate or with a layer of Fondant. They are ideal in all ways and without decorating they are also very good.
